Ingredients:

4 medium sweet potatoes

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt, to taste

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional toppings:

Butter

Sour cream

Chopped fresh herbs (like parsley or chives)

Crumbled bacon

Shredded cheese

Honey or maple syrup

Cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prep the Sweet Potatoes: Scrub the sweet potatoes well under cold running water. Pat them dry with a towel. Using a fork, pierce each sweet potato several times to allow steam to escape during baking.

Season the Potatoes: Place the sweet potatoes on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle each one with olive oil and rub it evenly over the skin. Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Bake the Sweet Potatoes: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes, depending on the size of the sweet potatoes. They are done when a fork or knife easily pierces the center without resistance. The skin should be crispy and the insides soft and fluffy.
